STOCKPORT HOMES GROUP DEPOT
Stockport Homes Group manage the housing stock owned by Stockport Council. They are committed to building new homes and transforming the lives of their customers.
Brief
Stockport Homes Group were looking for a contemporary solution for the office areas to deliver an aesthetic uplift, whilst the requirements of the depot and stores prioritised durability and serviceability. However, the overarching goal of the scheme was to create a comfortable work space for all employees throughout all departments whilst also benefitting from reduced costs associated with utilising the latest LED lighting technologies. The areas which Steon Lighting were asked to address include: the lobby, bathrooms, meeting rooms, offices, warehouse and plant rooms.
Solution
Steon’s lighting design team carried out calculations and selected a suitable range of LED luminaires from within the Steon brand.
A combination of standard and emergency 600x600mm Eco Panel LEDs were selected for the lobby, offices, meeting room and lounge areas. These IP40 rated panels are ideal for office environments with a broad light distribution and excellent glare control. The Sucuro LED blade exit signs indicate escape routes throughout this area.
For the bathroom areas, Steon supplied the IP44 Hydrus Midi LED downlighters. This area is serviced by a combination of both standard and emergency luminaires.
The racking area within the warehouse and the plant store has been illuminated using the durable IP66 rated non-corrosive Challenger LED. A number of these luminaires featured integral emergency and several were fitted with MIC1 controls, a versatile and cost effective off-on-off energy control system which switches the luminaire on upon detection of presence, and switches following periods of prolonged absence. The Subventus LED was selected in the warehouse to highlight emergency exits.
Outcome
Following the successful completion of the project, the light levels throughout the building have been significantly improved which has created a brighter and more vibrant work space for the employees. Through the use of energy efficient luminaires and intelligent lighting controls, Stockport Homes Group have minimised energy costs and reduced their environmental impact. Finally, the Steon luminaires are virtually maintenance free and have a life expectancy in excess of 50,000 hours, mitigating the expense and disruption associated with the frequent maintenance of the installation prior to the upgrade.
